Somewhere Wonderful & Strange

Saddened by the passing of a true American icon of cinema, television, and art, it is slightly reassuring to think that David has moved on to somewhere Wonderful and Strange, much like all of the many treasures and mysteries he gave us throughout his amazing life.

I was blessed on a number of occasions to spend time with him at his home, in his studio, or on the phone. He was always gracious and giving of his time, and an astoundingly interesting man even when he wasn’t speaking, always thinking, likely dreaming, ever in search of Catching The Big Fish.

These are just a few of the photos from a shoot I did with David in the early 2000’s. When he took me into his office, I asked him to pause as his website logo came on screen. Without looking back at me he said, “I know what you’re doing.” Then I took the shot that turned out to be his favorite of the day.

I am blessed to have had the opportunities I did to spend even brief amounts of time with him, and honored to be able to share those memories and moments.

From that photos session, full page interior front cover of Issue 58.
